TERMS & CONDITIONS
Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions explain the basis on which My Lighthouse Learning provides its online educational services. Please read them carefully before booking or purchasing a course, programme or other learning service.

1. About My Lighthouse Learning
My Lighthouse Learning provides personalised online education, including live teaching, courses, programmes and related educational support.
2. Who these terms apply to
These Terms & Conditions apply to anyone who purchases, books or uses My Lighthouse Learning services.
Where services are purchased for a learner under 18, the parent or guardian making the purchase is responsible for agreeing to these Terms and for helping the learner comply with relevant requirements.
Where the learner is an adult purchasing services for themselves, references to parents or guardians do not apply where they are not relevant.
3. Courses and programmes
My Lighthouse Learning offers both courses and programmes.
Courses provide focused learning in a particular subject, skill, qualification or area of interest.
Programmes provide a broader personalised learning pathway shaped around the learner’s age, current level, needs and goals.
The precise content, pace and teaching priorities may be adapted according to the learner’s starting point and progress. While we aim to support strong academic outcomes, we do not guarantee specific grades, admissions or results.
4. Personalised learning
Teaching may be adapted according to factors such as the learner’s current understanding, strengths, areas for development, goals and progress.
Because learning is personalised, the exact sequence, emphasis or content may differ between learners even when they are studying the same general course or programme.
Reasonable changes to teaching content, order or emphasis made for educational reasons do not necessarily constitute a change to the purchased service, provided that the overall nature and purpose of the service remain consistent with what was described at the time of purchase.
5. Bookings and enrolment
Submitting an enquiry, completing a form or requesting a consultation does not in itself confirm a booking or enrolment.
A booking or enrolment is confirmed when My Lighthouse Learning has accepted the booking and any required payment arrangements have been completed.
We may need information about the learner’s age, current level, needs and goals before recommending or confirming an appropriate starting point. In some cases we may recommend a different course or programme than originally requested if we believe it is more suitable.
6. Prices and payment
Applicable prices and payment arrangements will be communicated before purchase or displayed as part of the relevant purchase or payment process.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that payment details and other information supplied are accurate and kept up to date.
Where payment is processed through a third-party payment provider, that provider facilitates the transaction, but My Lighthouse Learning remains responsible for providing the educational service purchased.
If payments involve different currencies or cross-border transactions, any currency conversion, exchange-rate differences or third-party charges may be subject to the customer’s own payment provider’s terms and policies.
7. Lesson scheduling
Live lessons are scheduled by agreement or according to the arrangements associated with the learner’s course or programme.
Learners and, where applicable, parents or guardians are responsible for attending at the agreed time and for ensuring that they have the necessary device, internet connection and suitable environment for online learning.
We cannot guarantee that the same teacher will always be available, but we aim to provide continuity where reasonably possible.
8. Rescheduling and cancellations by the customer
The notice required to cancel or reschedule a lesson is [TO BE CONFIRMED].
Lessons cancelled with insufficient notice or missed without notice may be treated as used and may not be refundable or replaceable, subject to the cancellation policy that is ultimately adopted.
Cancellation/rescheduling policy: [TO BE CONFIRMED BEFORE PUBLISHING]
9. Cancellations or changes by My Lighthouse Learning
Occasionally, a lesson or session may need to be rescheduled or cancelled because of teacher illness, availability, technical problems or other circumstances.
If My Lighthouse Learning cancels a scheduled lesson, we will normally make reasonable arrangements to reschedule it or otherwise provide the service paid for.
We may use a suitable alternative teacher where appropriate. We do not promise financial compensation beyond the value of the affected service, except where required by applicable law.
10. Missed lessons and technical difficulties
If a learner fails to attend a scheduled lesson, or is unable to participate because of technical problems on their side (such as device, internet connection or software issues), the lesson may be treated as used in line with the applicable cancellation policy.
Customers should make reasonable efforts to ensure that their device, internet connection, microphone, camera where required, and relevant software are working before a lesson.
Where there is significant technical disruption attributable to My Lighthouse Learning or the teacher, we will consider the circumstances reasonably and discuss appropriate next steps with the customer. This does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund for every technical interruption.
11. Packages, credits and expiry
If lessons or services are sold in packages, blocks or credits, the specific terms, including any expiry conditions, will be communicated before or at the time of purchase.
Package/lesson-credit validity period: [TO BE CONFIRMED]
Customers should review these details carefully, as unused lessons or credits may expire if not used within the applicable period once confirmed.
12. Refunds
Refund eligibility depends on factors such as the nature of the service purchased, whether provision has begun, the circumstances of cancellation and any applicable consumer rights.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or limit any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
13. Learner conduct
Learners are expected to:
• behave respectfully towards teachers and other learners;
• participate appropriately in online lessons and learning activities;
• avoid abusive, discriminatory, threatening or otherwise inappropriate behaviour;
• use lesson technology appropriately and follow reasonable instructions; and
• avoid sharing or displaying inappropriate material.
Serious or repeated inappropriate behaviour may result in a lesson being ended or services being suspended while the situation is reviewed. Where the learner is a child, the parent or guardian may be contacted to discuss concerns and next steps.
14. Parent and guardian responsibilities
Where the learner is under 18, parents and guardians are responsible for providing accurate information and appropriate contact details.
They should help to ensure that:
• the learner can access lessons safely and appropriately;
• the learner attends scheduled sessions or gives reasonable notice if they cannot attend;
• the learner has suitable technology and a suitable environment for online learning; and
• My Lighthouse Learning is informed about relevant circumstances that may affect learning or safe participation.
Safeguarding and welfare concerns should be raised promptly. For more information, please see our Safeguarding page.
15. Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of learners is important to My Lighthouse Learning. Online teaching should take place within appropriate professional boundaries and in a way that supports learners’ welfare.
Safeguarding concerns may require action or disclosure of information where appropriate to protect a child or comply with applicable obligations. We cannot promise absolute confidentiality where safeguarding concerns exist.
For more detail about our approach, please see our Safeguarding page.
16. Privacy and personal information
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the legal bases we rely on and the rights individuals may have in relation to their information.
We encourage you to read the Privacy Policy carefully. It is available on our website.
17. Educational outcomes
We aim to provide high-quality personalised education and to support learners in making strong progress. However, we cannot guarantee particular examination grades, admission to any school, university or other institution, achievement of a particular qualification, a specific improvement in marks or any other particular academic outcome.
Educational outcomes depend on many factors, including the learner’s participation, attendance, independent work, prior attainment and personal circumstances, as well as factors outside My Lighthouse Learning’s control.
18. Examination and qualification information
Where a course supports preparation for an external examination or qualification, My Lighthouse Learning provides educational preparation unless expressly stated otherwise.
We are not an examination board, awarding organisation or examination centre unless this is clearly confirmed in relation to a specific service.
Examination registration, examination-centre arrangements, entry fees and official assessment requirements may be separate from the teaching service. Customers should check the relevant examination or qualification information carefully. We do not state that any particular examination fee is included unless this is clearly confirmed.
19. Teaching materials and intellectual property
Lesson materials and educational resources supplied by My Lighthouse Learning may be protected by intellectual-property rights.
Customers and learners may use materials supplied to them for their own personal educational purposes.
They should not reproduce, publish, sell, distribute or commercially exploit those materials without permission.
We do not claim ownership of third-party textbooks, examination-board materials or other resources that belong to third parties.
20. Recording lessons
Where a lesson or session is to be recorded, learners and/or their parents or guardians will be informed as appropriate. Any recording will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.
For more information about how we handle personal information, please see our Privacy Policy.
21. Suspending or ending services
Either the customer or My Lighthouse Learning may need to end an ongoing learning arrangement.
My Lighthouse Learning may suspend or terminate services in circumstances including serious misconduct, safeguarding concerns, persistent non-payment or other substantial breaches of these Terms.
Any financial consequences of termination will follow the applicable payment and refund arrangements and any requirements of consumer law. We will aim to communicate clearly with customers about the implications of ending services.
22. Changes to courses, programmes and teachers
We may occasionally make reasonable changes to course content, teaching arrangements, resources or teachers where necessary to maintain or improve delivery, respond to learner needs or reflect changes in relevant curricula or examinations.
Significant changes affecting a purchased service should be communicated appropriately. We will take reasonable account of the interests of learners and customers when making such changes and do not give ourselves an unrestricted right to change services without regard to those interests.
23. Website and third-party services
Our website may link to or use third-party services for functions such as communication, scheduling, video conferencing or payment processing.
Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. A link to a third-party website or service does not make that third party the provider of My Lighthouse Learning’s educational services.
24. Complaints and concerns
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our services, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can review the issue and discuss appropriate next steps.
You can contact My Lighthouse Learning by email at info@mylighthouselearning.com.
For safeguarding concerns, please refer to our Safeguarding page.
We do not currently operate a formal external complaints or arbitration scheme beyond any rights you may have under applicable law.
25. Liability
We aim to provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
We do not create sweeping exclusions such as “no liability under any circumstances”. Any limitations or exclusions of liability will be interpreted in line with applicable law and your statutory rights.
26. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict any rights a customer has under applicable consumer law where those rights cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
Details of any specific cooling-off periods or additional consumer protections will depend on the legal jurisdiction and the way services are sold, and will be confirmed once these details have been finalised.
27. Governing law
Governing law and jurisdiction: United Kingdom
This information will be reviewed and confirmed before these Terms are treated as final.
28. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements or good practice.
The date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were last updated.
Where appropriate, we will inform existing customers about material changes that affect an ongoing purchased service.
